How can a dealer do this....
« on: 28 March 2011, 19:12 »
...

Had my car in at a main dealer for them to repair the passenger side they damaged during the coilpack recall..

During the 3 weeks wait I machine polished the whole car except that side as I'd assumed the finish would be perfect.

What a mistake.....the swirls are terrible and will now have to spend a good few hours sorting it out.

Pointless asking them to do it as I wouldn't trust them with my car again.

Because they probably employ average blokes to whip over cars with a sponge and call it a 'valet' alongside a service. most average people wouldnt notice because they dont clean it themselves...

only trust yourself or recommended 'detailers' to work on your car and you cant go far wrong mate.  :nerd:

yes the dealership monkeys are rubbish these days and i would strongly recomend putting a note in your car every time it goes in to have something done saying not to wash or polish it,
most dealerships dont have there own in house valeters anymore so get outside companys in that have a team of unexperienced people working for them.

the standards over the years has dropped in a big big way, when i was training at volvo 16yrs back the boss was so fussy and had to be spot on or it didnt go out, for some reason they stopped having in house valeters and get outside companys to do the work(badly).

This happened to me at a VW dealership when I got my cambelt and service done and when I pulled them up about it they said they were there when they started, they even showed me the job sheet and it stated that it had a scratch (singular, which I knew was there before I went in) but the mechanic had left loads of scratches where he had been working. The manager told me it wasn't their fault but would get the valeter to put some tcut on it, which i refused.

I'd like to say I never used them again, but, I bought a car off them and that turned out to be my biggest mistake. It had been in a smash and poorly repaired before I bought it and they didn't tell me, which I found out 2 days into ownership. I did get my money back though.

Complete cowboys, I doubt I'll use a dealership again.
