Kerbing an alloy can kick start tourette's syndrome

Did you not hear that happen??

I did, yeah...that's what made it more sickening...

I was pulling out of a tight driveway, mindful of the kerb on the right clipping my right rear wheel, when I swung the front left into the kerb opposite.
I was going less than walking pace...and I just felt a clunk, and the car stopped.
Eyes widen, stomach sinks, select reverse, get out of car...start shouting and swearing.
The first in well over 15 years. Damn.

No speed though...so no damage to the alloy...just a quick re-coat and it'll be back in 'stock'.

Surprised you didnt hear or feel that. Do The alloys stick out past the tyres?

Pretty much level with the rim protector...8.5" wide wheels...too wide probably, 8s would have given more protection.

All fixed now...
I'll get the wheel back in a couple of weeks, in perfect condition.
The cost will only be £45 for the powder coat and £20 to swap the tyre over....I got off lightly, I think.

Nasty   Nothing worse then the sound of metal on kerb

Good job it was a fairly cheap repair though

Glen

At least it's only £65. Could have been more swearing otherwise

I think having spare wheels meant that I was less bothered...I knew as soon as the tyre changing man was open I could put it right.

OUCH...
Looks nasty - but at least its easily repaired.

Glen - do you know if PPS do 'touch ups'?

I took my winter wheels off on Sunday since it was the first day of spring.  I noticed one had a chip out of it inside the wheel.  The edges are all perfect, but there is a chip out of the coating about the size of a 5p which is white.
I thought they were supposed to be bulletproof?!

It seems a shame to have to get the tyre off and the whole wheel re-coated just for a tiny mark - especially when its barely visible.
