the black paint looks good on the pic of the wheel, is it a satin finish ?

i don't think the pics u have took with them on the car quite do them justice

It is a satin finish, and the shots of them on the car are a bit pants as I was typing this thread up and released I didn't have any pictures of them on the car. Hence why my jack is stil wedged under the front too

I've just noticed that you've still got the bigger mk4 tyres fitted, will you be changing them to the smaller correct size?

In my last posts I showed pics of a holey floor and a dropped exhaust, which had all been done in preperation of changing the rod change bushes. A horrible, filthy, sweary, disgusting and ultimately rewarding job which has completely changed the shift!

Its now tight and doesn't crunch into second gear.

I also took the steps of changing all four tyres off the monty IIs, and the constant scraping over bumps and rubbing was doing my head in.

So a few pennies later, four new 195/45/r16  T1Rs are gracing the mk3.

When the rears were taken off, one had been rubbing on the shock, and the other on the arch and had worn a nice groove. Ooops  :lipsrsealed:

Only problem is now the wheels appear to be hiding in the arches, so spacers may be required.

The more observant of you may have noticed the roof rack; I do a little  bit of mountain biking and didn't fancy puting it in the car and getting mud all over the leather. So a votex bar kit and a thule bike carrier were on the cards.

Then i got a bit bored

IMO the changes I have made over my ownership of this car have transformed it. It drives so much sharper, which I know being a mk3 doesn't say much, but going for a drive still puts a smile on my face.

Re: Trog's Mk3 8v - One healthy golf = MOT Passed
« Reply #138 on: 15 August 2012, 14:13 »
Well the main news on the mechanical front is that the car went for its MOT yesterday.

Passed first time with no advisories which was brilliant.
Then told the tester (who is a good old boy) about the little sweepstake on the forum, and he said that if I want no advisories next year it would cost me a packet of choccy hobnobs . Seem to be currency round these parts.

Last night though me and my mate went a did a few arty farty pics in the dark, such as painting with light etc.

This was made doubly difficult by the golfs dark colour.

Heres some of the results though, see what you guys think.
