Freshly washed microfibres leaving marks!
« on: 23 March 2011, 19:56 »
As above, when wiping the spits off the car after rinsing, is direct sunlight the cause or souls I be waxing after each wash? The reason I day this is because wax buffs up fine.

Bas#ard phone keypad sorry!

I washed the car, she was waxed at the weekend, the sun meant that there was rain spots on the paint.
Thought I'd buff these off with a clean microfibre, some were hard to get off.
Anyway, when the light catches the bonnet in a certain way, you can see the "buffing" marks left behind by the microfibre.
If I wax then buff car is fine, should I be applying wax after each wash?
It is only liquid wax (megs) will a harder wax like purple haze be more durable?
Also, any tips for detailing when its cracking the flags?

Cheers, sorry about the spastic first post.

cracking the flags?!

are you using a Quick detailer spray when you use the microfibres to buff off the water marks?

have you washed your microfibre? if so have you used conditioner?

yes... a hard wax will give better results and a couple of coats will be better than one... but you will still get some water marks when it rains. best way to get rid of these is to give the car a quick wash and dry.

now... these 'buffing marks'... what do they look like? are the kind of smeary water marks or do they look more like a spiders web of very very fine scratches in the sunlight?

Not a cloud in the sky for 2 days,

microfibres have been washed in non bio, no conditioner.

Megs detailing spray was used to remove water marks, some of which are quite stubborn.

Marks are like spider web thin scratches, which do not happen if i wax.

Also, the bonnet was the worse area and was mostly in the sun.

no worries about the first post,
how are you drying the microfibres, tumble dryer is a no no because it dry's them out to fast with too much heat and can damage them.

from your description it sounds like the swirls are already there and when your buffing the water marks out you are rubbing too hard and inflicting more,
purple haze is a soft wax.
to remove the swirls you need a finishing polish applied via DA or rotory machine, you can do it by hand but the results wont be as uniform as they would if done with a machine.

In the process of getting a da.

Washed and waxed today and no marks apart from the original swirls that is.

Microfibres are air dryed.

Any recommendations on a different wax?

purple haze is a great wax for blues, or if you want hard wax then go for blue velvet, also consider either hard candy or rainforest rub both very good waxes and very easy to use.
