Edition 30 DSG, limits and expected gains.
« on: 22 March 2011, 21:37 »
Hi guys I am about to purchase a MK5 edition 30 DSG box.

I have heard that with.....

filter
fuel pump
exhaust
intercooler
remap

that 360bhp is to be expected.

How real is this figure, and what limitations if any will the DSG throw up?
Why do people opt for a sport cat? surely decat will yield more power?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Depending on the torque the remap produces you might need to map the DSG box to to up the torque limit.

360bhp is a bit far fetched, except maybe on the superchips rollers - 330bhp is more realistic with those mods, maybe 345bhp with a proper intake and not just a filter.

You should buy my car with those mods on already :) http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=184657.0

Looks like a nice well sorted car, but 2 things for me, too many miles and too dear for me for the miles.
Ideally I want a 35k max.

Consider this - cars with low miles could've been subject to lots of short journeys or stop start driving in city centres, which as we know isn't good for our FSI based engines. Mine on the other hand has done motorway miles only :)

I looked at cars with less than 15k miles on them that were in a shocking condition i.e. scrapes on all 4 corners, 3 different brands of tyres on.

Cheers
