Sorry
« on: 05 September 2003, 10:18 »
I know this is a GTI forum and I do own an 8v, but my girlfriend has a problem with her 1995 Polo. Now it is getting a bit damp in the morning she is having trouble starting her car, it wil start and just shake and drop, like all 4 cylinders are not firing. I am thinking it's the HT leads as it did this earlier in the year but it started perfectly in the summer. If anyone can advise me this would be appreciated. Sorry to use the GTI forum for this question :-[

Leads or cap I'd go for, probably both. Your cap might have a hairline crack in it.......that would certainly cause said problem.

Yep distributor cap. They can develop hairline cracks and cause no end of problems especially in the wet/damp.

Its worth changing anyway, especially if its been fitted for a while (I expect from new on a 1995).  Probably less than a fiver if its a Bosch.
