Brake caliper grease...
« on: 18 March 2011, 20:09 »
Going to change my rear brake pads this weekend, not bad considering the car has done 63k & still on the original pads - I'm obviously not driving it hard enough!!

Question is - what does everyone use to grease up the slider pins on the calipers?? I've always used copper grease but someone recently told me not to use this because it eventually clogs up...

All advice appreciated.

Cheers.

I think copper grease is fine. Any grease will attract dirt and brake dust and eventually clog up anyway.

Unless you wanna try dry lubricant like carbon

brake dust shouldnt get into the slider pins ;)
i think the factory vag stuff is lithium grease, but i always buy gen vag boot kits which come with new caliper bolts plus proper grease.
