Buy a 996 Porsche Carrera 4.  A 12 year old one should cost about £11,000 with quite a few miles on the clock.
You'll see off a lardy ED30 on the first corner.

You got a good deal on that one, was so tempted to put a bid down and fit myself as well but bottled it in the last few seconds.
I guess ed30 it is for me now, just hope I can find a nice one.
Actually, have found a nice one but its £16.5k

Mine's up for sale and has been meticulously looked after ... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=184655.0

It also comes with the option of being fully sorted if that's what you're looking for - I've spent 2 years perfecting a good (if somewhat slow) standard car :)

I’m sure the 996 will but I need something a bit more practical..

Nice ed30, shame its a 3 door otherwise would be very interested.

The cars are out there.

I sold my ED30 5dr DSG on an 07 plate with 34k miles on it for under £14k

5dr reflex silver, with Kenwood touchscreen HDD satnav, uprated speakers, REVO stage 1, Quaife LSD, 18" Team dynamics 1.2 lightweight alloys with Toyo R1R tyres (nearly new tyres!), Tyresure pressure monitor system, new rear discs, nearly new front discs, and the original suspension and exhaust put back on that had done less than 10k miles.
