Cost of a new Clutch?
« on: 14 March 2011, 19:39 »
Ive been a bit agressive with my clutch a couple times in the past and was a bit rough with a down shift today.  The biting point now feels a little bit vague and can be a bit jerky on down shift.

Im hoping im just being paranoid, but is it possible ive done some damage?  Can anyone tell me how much a new clutch would be?  Any help would be gratefully received!  PS my Gti is a 2006 with 59k on the clock.  Cheers

I did some serious damage to my clutch and gave it a good glazing over when I was at the pod a few years ago (never again :D) and its stood the test of time (ive done about 30k or so since that event). See how you get on first before you start thinking of a new one. Dont know a price (phone a garage / dealer?) but not cheap will be the answer.

Thanks for the responses.  Yeah my local VW dealer told me Gti clutches are pretty tough.  Im pretty sure I was just being paranoid!  Not had any probs since my original post (touch wood!).

Ive owned 5 different cars in total and replaced the gearbox + clutch on two of them!  I think im a bit smoother with the gear changes these days!
