there rusty around the top inch of the disc but only on the rear brakes,
as if the pads not touching the disc??

any ideas :huh:

Pads arnt contacting properly, or discs r that rusty pads are wearing quicker at top but can't clear rust off. Had a mk4 in yesterday with the problem. Happens all the time

Standard will be fine but as Rich said get the fluid replaced and the system bleed.
