@ wayne it like as soon as you lock it u can hear it grinding against the belt!

Have a good look where it is touching and try and take some pictures.

Sounds to me like its the power steering pump whirring on full lock to be honest, for a wheel to touch any belts (timing or auxillary) its have to be at a 90 degree angle and go through the chassis first!
If its a whirring grinding noise i bet its the p/steering pump. Check your power steering fluid first. (the black reservoir next to the battery in case you werent sure).
If the fluids ok it may be a buggered pump.
Ask a local mechanic to confirm it for you

Im also struggling to comprehend the wheel turning enough to actually touch the cambelt through the chassis leg, power steering belt and cambelt cover and then for it even be a plausible question that you car is damaged or something isn't quite right???

This has to be power steering sound.
Spose thinking about it when I have my car on full lock the I push lock abit harder spose that sound does sound like something touching a moving belt.
Unless you can actuly see the wheel somehow touching the belt then I'd say its defo the power steering sound.

power steering makes that sound when there's the fluid is low or your pump is fubared.

new pump is £72 plus vat from gsf. takes about an hour each way to change
