One small point, he might not have known, the 10 owners part would have put me off anyway.

One small point, he might not have known, the 10 owners part would have put me off anyway.

foolishy i was refreshing ebay waiting for a golf to appear i hadent seen allready, then thhis one popped up. it was literaly on 5 mins, thought i would try get myself a bargain, i obviously dident read it properly, as the 10 owners would of put me off aswell, but still ,... 10 owners doesent mean its got a stolen engine, i have just been very unlucky , as for the he might not of known, theres a small percentage of that as he was a young lad and looked like he knew a thing or two about cars, this may nopt be the case, but either way, as the police said, he sold stolen goods, therefor im entitled to my money back, whether they persue him for committing the crime makes no difference, he still owes me

i know its had 10 owners and its not the best golf in the world , but considering im starting from scratch with no money, would it be worth gettin the car back with no engine and fitting a 1.6, and does anyone know how much this would cost approx?

im from lancashire mate, probably worth gettin the car back though yeah? even if i end up selling it for parts, scrap, or selling it engineless
im gunna be better off than the police crushing it

not sure if this would affect the claims courts decision on a refund though.

Id break it,  no way would i even think about fixing it. Why did they go to the bother of fittin a stolen engine? What else could go wrong? Its summit thatll always be in back of your mind

I would not want it back, something does not add up.

Hope you get it sorted.

Does anyone know btw what the 1.6 would have needed doing to get a 2.0 to run, I guess the ecu has been changed but what about the wiring.

Pretty sad story this one :(

I'd want it back to strip for bits and to sell or you'll probably be out of pocket for a very long time if you just let it lie, it'll cost a bit in legal fees no doubt and it'll get drawn out way too long :(
