Auto Locking
« on: 11 March 2005, 21:39 »
I have read in other posts that you can set up the central locking and window closure functions differently, depending on individual needs. Can any one tell me how to do this or is it only able to be done by a dealer. Also, can the central locking on the car be set to auto lock itslef when the car sets off and reaches 5mph like on some other cars?

Just got an 03 mk4 GTI-T and love it!!!? ?

Cheers.

Not 100% what can be programmed into a MK4,but any functions that aren`t on the car now have to be programmed at the dealers.Give them a ring and ask.

The function you're talking about is called Anti-Hijacking, which, as you said, locks the doors above 5mph.

This, as well as other central locking functions, can be pre-programmed via the VAGCOM port. Anyone with a cable, the VAGCOM software and laptop can sort this for you, alternatively, run it into a dealership, and they will do it.

They can also adjust the function that only unlocks the drivers door on one click and change it to all doors (not sure if that bothers you at all, but for me it was the most frustrating thing about my GTi)

Not sure the standard alarm control unit is capable of window roll-ups - I ended up buying an additional module and wiring it in myself (takes about an hour, costs approx ?50).

The greatest leveller of them all - the Carousel
