Nice project.

Take DH with a pinch of salt, but he does know what he's talking about, having been taking his Mk2 to tracks (including Nurburgring) for the last few years. (His track car project started in 2004, thread here: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=72724.0 )

i know its all about the stance and rims but with the kind of setup you have i would be moving toward shocks springs and lightweight rims, yeah and to be fair as Diamond Hell says lose the greenstuff pads they are pretty pap, mintex are alot better. ive had both on my mk2.

car looks really good too :afro:

He's back for more....

You've put grooved and drilled discs on, with Green Stuff pads?  So fill us in on your story then.  What tracks, what strips and what times?  Slicks would seem a bit keen rather than track-day tyres for track, but I'm sure you'll have a reason for this choice.
Got a used set of Dunlop slicks cheap - as for times... I've not finished building it yet

Running that low you've put your roll-centre under the ground, which means the car will let go suddenly and have far less mechanical grip prior to that than if it was running with the control arms level.
You also don't appear to have any negative camber on the front, but then I'm sure you'll set the suspension up differently for each application, drag or track.

I'm concentrating on getting it running first, before I finish setting it up. It doesn't look that low - but I guess compared to Suzuki jeep......

ORLY?  Funny, as I'm quick picky about my car set up and have a couple of miles under my belt.
Or did you come on here to have morons stroke your ego?  I see there's a couple already ingratiating themselves.
You do know this isn't ED38, don't you?

No, I came on here to show the build progress of my Golf because some will be interested, others like you wont. but don't feel you have to hang around on my thread i'm sure you have better things to do.....

Cheers

I'm not building the Golf for the track it will hopefully get some track day action but most of its time will be spend on the road and weekends at santa pod. I'll take the advice on the greenstuff pads as they are obviously sh!te!

Horses for courses, silly boy.

Old slicks are normally cheap for a reason - the reason being because they'll bite your ass when they let go suddenly.

Never mind this car, what about the bad-assed times you've done in your previous cars?

You have had other cars, haven't you?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
