my door won't open!
« on: 05 March 2011, 10:05 »
neither of the off side doors on the wife's mk 3 will open!

no idea what to do, can't remove the handles or the door cards with the doors closed. any ideas?

bit of info. the car has polo 6n handles fitted and this it the first time any problems have arisen.

the central locking seems to be working fine. both doors are unlocked but won't open from inside the car or outside.

i wound the window down and held bith handles open and gave the goor in a good shove. result? sore arm.

any ideas?

I suspect the Polo handles are no longer pulling the release lever.

Try something down the side of the glass to pop the lever.

You can remove the trim with it shut, just expect to break a few clips.

can't boss - at work then straight to leeds after.

will try and get the door card off in situ. is it a case of brute force and ignorance then?

Kinda. I did it on my old one. Take off the trim round the interior handle, undo two screws, take off the lock pin, then just try and pull outwards and upwards as much as possible. Can JUST about pull the bottom out then lift and pull hard.

Back is easier then the front when they are shut.

Try winding the window down, remove the strip seal thing on the inside, and you may be able to get something down there to pull the release wire with

Procrastinated for long enough then decided to attack. First job was to give the handle a tug and...it opened!

Going to strip it down tomorrow and see what's what
