slight problem guys

bought a mk1 clipper cabriolet today guys i sort of rushed into it as it was only 300 quid  . after having nothing but mk 4's i aint to clued up with mk1s i just wanted one to restore for the summer  anyway its only automatic aint it   :sick: i diddent know they did a mk1 auto i felt ill ! .  my plans for the car is to change the engine and gearbox anyways so is this a problem ?

i'd say don't bother changing it...
too much effort! i think an auto is perfectly fine! enjoy the easy cruise with the roof down in ALL weathers!

you know what  that does sound good i may just restore the engine thats in her then ! no more mk4's for me i gone old skool !!

totally different kind of drive...

i love my mk4, but having had a mk2 and a mk1 first i hate the drive on it, have it for purely practical purposes!

i'd drive it as an auto before you make the decision to change it!

yes ill try it 1st but then if i do decide to change it  i can guarantee now that the gearbox mountings are tottally in different places  . im sure ill get my head around it as i havent been to look at the car yet

Easy enough to swap back to a manual but live with it if you can.

MK1 cab is for crusin' and pimpin' at the ladies.  :rolleyes:

Not going like sh!te of a shovel. For that get a MK2 16v.

Leave is as it is if you don't want the hassle of an engine swap.
