You need to swap everything

I may as well ask why don't you put the 16v back on the road and sell the 1.4

Well it well be a lot of work as you need everything really, best way to look at is that you are reshelling the 16v.

Check your insurance as a 1st step.

Wayne, I like you, but don't we go through this everytime anyone asks?

I respect if you're enquiring about insurance, cause it makes people aware.

You gotta remember sometimes things "aren't worth it". I must have thrown £3K around with my car, not spent that but thrown it around.

Is it worth it?

No.

am I pleased to do it? Yes.

Just a thought, not having a go.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

Is the wiring a big job to do then ? I can do all the mechanical without any problems, its just the wiring. And also do i need to change gear selectors ?

I respect that fully, however it is a world of difference between modding a car (which if your honest is never worthwhile but we have all done it) and building what you can buy which never makes sense with the way s/h values are at the moment.

Wiring is the whole loom fusebox forward plus dash loom is different, also need to swap to hydraulic clutch and yes gear selector is different.

Fair point I spose, spose people think it might be cheaper to whack a different engine in it.

It can be if your starting with a GTI in which case a 16v or VR is easy enough to sort but starting with a 1.4 is lot more work.
