G60 Supercharged!!!

What differences are there between a normal 8v gti engine and a G60 engine?
Obviously the supercharger but what else?
Could I use the majority of my existing engine, gearbox etc if I did a conversion?

i think you'd be okay with just lowering the C/R using g60 rods and pistons, should get away without using the uprated crank. your standard gearbox/clutch probably wouldnt last long, and your brakes would be as much use as tits on fish. so then the 'charger, piping, throttle body (i think?) intercooler and ecu from a g60 and all the building.. it'll probably end up cheaperto source a complete g60 engine.

What's a good price to be paying for an engine?

?1 is a great price.

?12,547 is a bad one

I would expect to pay approx ?600 if

a) The charger is still in good nick and has some life
b) It has sensible mileage with some history
c) The engine has traceable numbers back to a seller-owned V5

I'd pay considerably less if a and b weren't 100% and wouldn't touch it if c wasn't the case.

you can but the engine wouldn't last, the G60 PG block has improved oil ways and has small oil injectors that spray a coat of oil on the pistons thus cooling them, without this you pistons will eventually cook

?600 seems fairly reasonable but what about the gearbox and clutch? Would i have to get them from a G60 or could something else do?

you can use the standard gti box but it wont like the engine i've just use a cable change box that came with the engine, for around a 800-1k you can get everything, engine/charger/g.box/pedal setup, wire loom/ecu/driveshafts etc, if you can find a rallye block as they have even better oilways that the G60 pg block
