I just bought a ton of plastic sheeting from focus for dirt cheap.  It was the stuff you put down when painting your house!
I cut it to size and stuck it down with proper waterproof duck tape, jobs a goodun.  I don't think it would be worth you making and selling the stuff, but you never know you might be onto a lucrative ebay moneymaking scheme :)

I'll be visiting Focus then.  Need to fix my water leak at the same time I do all the fixes for the intermittant electric windows (Which I got from here)

Get yourself to a builders merchant, like Boswells or Harcross etc... and get some damp proof membrane, the stuff that they use in the walls, not the course.... ITs much tougher than the other stuff, and stick it down with Double sided tape (waterproof) then put some more tpe over the seams afterwards. Will probably outlast your car

Another tip for you: cut an extra sheet to half size and stick it to the lower half of the door, tucking it in at the bottom before sticking the top sheet on.
This will stop the vast majority of water running down the inside of the plastic and pooling at the bottom.  You can also tuck all the electrical bits under the lower sheeting to help protect it from the elements :)
