hi all.

major update.

sprayed the gbox and fitted it with new clutch light weight flywheel
then started it up and there was this crazy constant screeching noise like the starter motor was stuck on flywheel. after reving it (we did turn car off and then back again but was baffled to what that noise could have been) so after revving it there was a bang and the screeching noise stopped, now it only screeches on startup, then came to drive it (made a vid btw just need to upload it)the biting point was level to the brake and i could feel the clutch slipping  :undecided: so decided to ring hotgolf of cgti (my mate said his a diamond) so after talking with hotgolf, he said that the clutch cable has got short (my fault) and the starter is sticking so will get back tonights to abduls and have a play. abdul cleaned the oil pump out and now the engine is alot quiter and the manifold is better (less blowing) so cant realy say how quick the car is after fitting the flywheel as the clutch keeps slipping. i remember how to unlock the cable after it had been locked but this is not fully releasing.

would help if anyone could point me in the right direction.

its a b@astard to do. mad4vw's did mine for me, as the gearbox was fooked. so he took it off and then released all the mounts and then pulled the engine forward that is the only way that will be easier. also buy the bolts from dealers or TPS (trade parts specialist) dont get the bolts and nuts from gsf as you wont be happy with the wasted time. as youe manifold or downpipe will be blowing. the car is alot more responsive now!  got to let the clutch ware in 1st before some serious lead foot is applied lol

once the cables go then they go, I haven't read your whole thread but if there were any issues relating to the clutch then it is possible that the cable has got itself into a pickle...

you're best off replacing it.. only about 30 notes iirc and its fairly straightforward to do

total figure for the parts and GB and labour and bits and bobs come to a WACKING £360 not bad, thats including GB, Lightened Flywheel, gaskets, Bolts & nuts, Sprays and labour. i would defo recommend Mad4VW's for any labour as he is VERY cheap and does QUALITY WORK!!!

MOT exipred yesterday had it booked in for today passed no probs  well chuffed with that. he also said that the emissions flew through but he did advise on the brake pipes.

so just wanted to know wheres the best place to get the brake pipes from? also how much will i be looking at?

Nice, not sure if it defeats the object of fogs, but have you thought about giving the grill ones a really light tint?
