Lowered Clipper Rubbing

Hi guys
I'm new to the forum so please be gentle!!!

I have just had my Clipper lowered by 35mm and my 15" Wheels with 195 50 tyres are rubbing on the plastic under the wheel arch. I've checked to make sure the plastic is fitted properly and is. Do i need smaller wheels or is there other things to check?

Check your wheel is not buckled, or that the wheels are the correct offset. Also getting the arches rolled may help a bit, but with only a 35 mm drop I would not have thought this neccassary.

Alright Ads, hope you are well.  :smiley:

Mines dropped about 30 - 40 mm and there's no probs, but I do run tyres of 185, 55, 15s. Just a thought, can I put 195, 50, 15 tyres on mine ?  :undecided:

It will be because of the clipper kit. Gibby has no problems cause his wheels are narrower- 195 tyres do rub, and the 50 profile wont help.

If your running standard shocks, that will make the ride soft (increasing rubbing).

Best bet is it to get the arches rolled. If you have a bodykit (like mine) you cant do this as the kit has no where to bolt on to.

Your  stuck in the corner really, new tyres will cost a packet. Is there a kit on there?

yep i have a kit on it so rolling the arches out will not help.

I had the car tracking and camber checked today and has helped a bit. I can go round a corner now at 30 mph!!!

The only other thing that i can think of is getting the grinder out and cut some of the plastic wheel arch liner out. Have you come across any negative side affects from drastic action like this?

I've had mine lowered by 40mm. I've got 195/45/15 tyres and don't get any rubbing  :wink:

I've sorted the problem.

I cut some of clipper wheel arch kit away from the underside in the 10 till 2 position and lifted the rim of the wheel arch it exposed. Very brutal but at least i got to use my grinder!!! All the cave man feelings in me raise to the surface when the grinder comes out!!!!

PS I had the roof down today, all is good in the world.
