Mk1 Carpet.
« on: 09 March 2005, 16:01 »
Hi All.

Does anyone know of anywhere that repairs or would supply a new front carpet. I would prefer it to be repaired because it is in brilliant condition apart from where it fits around the door seal it has come awy from the material that the seal goes over.

Thanks
Andy.

Andy, there was something in January's Golf+ mag about a company that was looking to supply mk1 carpets if there was enough interest, I'll dig it out and let you know if I can find it.

My carpet has come away slightly at the drivers side, tried to clip it back in but it's lost the extra few mm of material so I had to super glue it down slightly, not perfect I know but it's done the job.
......now officially dubless.

go down the old fabric shop and you can buy the black material strapping that you can replace the old stuff with on the edges. the old ones pull straight off you can either machine them back in or using a hot glue gun and i mean leaving the gun sitting for half an hour to get it running hot, bonds the new edging to the carpet with no glue showing. clips back up them or you over lap the material on the door seems as per orginal then trap under the door edging rubber. mine were knackered, pulled the carpet back a treat and unless you looking for stitch marks cant tell, costs ?8 for around both bottom door edges.
