« on: 25 February 2011, 12:44 »
this is the message i got from some1 one ebay regarding my swap from an EZ 8v head to a PB 8v head..... are they interchangable.

Dear ukjarvis,

I'll get some pics at lunch for you. do you have a mobile number i can send them to?, one of the cam caps is missing but if you already have an old head you could use one from that.

A PB head has only got 4 caps anyway is that what he means if not and it has a cam cap missing you may as well scrap the head as they are matched.

The cam caps are line bored from new so cannot be replaced, if one is missing then the head is scrap really.

But the PB head will fit EZ

another message from said seller,.... your thoughts please,..

Dear UKJARVIS

There is a cam cap missing, the head is not scrap without this, the only reason you aren't 'supposed' to use a different one is because they were cut from the same cast. another one will fit and work fine. as the ad says it's missing a lifter in the picture, but i have that in a box with the other cam caps. also as said i don't know the history of the head. all the water and oil galleries appear to be fine.

You cannot just fit another cam cap as they are line bored from new.

So all the other cam caps are in a box? Has he numbered them or not when he removed them?

I wouldn't bother with that head, there are plenty more out there. You can pick whole pb engines up for peanuts as well

This.  You're buying scrap.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Cam caps have the numbers stamped on them. Some heads don't have 5 (EV for example), but they are not interchangable.

If its missing a cap - its scrap
