Hi all, what's the best wheel cleaner for my wheels on my Mk6?  They are quite a polished finish and want to use stuff that wont damage them.

Thanks guys,

Jim

Hi Jim,

What you want is to steer well clear of the acid based cleaners sold in Halfrauds and the like and us e a safe, citrus based cleaner that won't damage your wheels. Something like Dodo Juice Mellow Yellow should do the trick and i dilute-able making it cost effective.

I use Bilberry Wheel Cleaner (http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=85&idcategory=81) which is acid free and is a great product and will not harm your wheels. This is the one i would recommend as you can dilute it 1:10 and it will still be effective.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice Jon.

Would this be ok? I want to do my wheels this weekend and can get some from my local Motorist Discount Centre.

Also, how do I know if its acid based on or?

Cheers,

Jim

Jim,

Sorry for the late reply bud, did you end up getting that wheel cleaner? Was it any good?

You can tell if its acid based by the pretty pungent smell! After using Bilberry on mine, im inclined to try something else, maybe im not doing something right with it, i mean, it smells nice but i do them every week and after a bit of snow foam, they come up sparkling without the wheel cleaner!

Thanks for the reply mate, I'm leaning towards not getting any wheel cleaner, at the moment they come up a treat just with my Megs shampoo.

Cheers,

Jim

what have you got in your gear Jim?

jetseal 109 is prefect for the job if you have it, any of the colli waxes will do etc etc.

The only wax I have is Dodo Juice Light Fantastic, I dont have anything else.

So is it a specific wheel wax sealant I need?
