Boot Light (Internal) What Upgrades have you done??
« on: 22 February 2011, 21:39 »
The biggest bug bear I have with my MK2 is the fecking crappy boot light & switch (What VW use as an EXCUSE of a light!!)..

I was just wondering what some of you people have done to Upgrade or Rectify this piss poor item...

I would like to keep it as much stock as possible, but stuff like this just need to be brought up to date...

Not looking for anything to elaborate...

Cheers!!

Check out the bulb wattage and see if you can find a higher rated one to replace it with?

Or see of a second light can be wired in on  the other side...

Or get a wee head torch

Cheers Rob...

Had thought of that... But it don't help with that crappy switch which locks shut every time you close the tailgate!

Must be a decent upgrade option on it!

Calm down dear, just a suggestion!

To hide it you can run it along the boot under the boot lock.

There are many things you could do.  You have a 12v source from the existing lamp.  Just fabricate something that can hold some LED's.

You could line the boot with carpeted MDF to square it off, and insert the led's into the side walls.

And gratefully received... Thanks

I know there is loads that I could do - But as I said in the 1st post - just wondered if anyone had improved the stock item with out going OTT with after-market stuff...

I've seen loads of threads on the S2forum on how to improve interior lighting using stuff off more modern Audi's and just wondered if anyone on here had done anything similar...

Can't just be me who thinks the original set up is crap!! All my MK2's have all had the same problem..

Maybe one of these? Could be too directional though?
