I have just purchased a mk4 GTi 1.8T 150BHP (51 reg) and shopped around for insurance. Direct line were the cheepest, although Tesco were not far behind. Most expensive Churchill.
That's with full no claims, protection, no hire car as do not live far from work, and with second driver, and garaged overnight, they also put business use on FOC.
 :)
'51 Black 1.8T GTi - Totally standard - Except for a GTi badge on the front!!!!

Being an employee, i went with Tesco as i got a discount, be warned though, if you want to change your policy in any way, they slap this and that on you.
I was with Herts for about 6 years and every year it went UP!, they say they are all pally with the clubs and are enthusiasts, (very touching), but once you go with them things start to creep up on renewal, OH, and you try getting a refund when you cancel (fun).
They also changed my level of cover on renewal, without informing me-be very careful!
Im sure their are people who have good things to say about the above companies, but in all my years of driving, i havent found better than Brentacre in wales-give John or Kerry a call, there guys ARE enthusiasts and they DO offer excellent customer service.
Lecture over! ;)

I used to be with herts and found them terrible, then went through another broker and had hassle so went with direct line.

Just had someone drive into my car and give false details, passenger door caned. Old bill involved, insurance company no hassles popped to coachworks same day for them to send quote to insurance. car is going in next week for new door and I'm pleased with the level of service.

Just had a quote from the "its4me" link on this site - ?270, 30 year old,  fully comp, protected, with the 6 smarty points I picked up for speeding this year!! not bad at all (7years no claims helps I s'pose) - they seem pretty good for a first quoter!
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture
