is it possible to put a vr6 engine into a mk2 golf with a syncro drivetrain?

The gearbox bell housing is different, so you would have to use a vr6 bell housing on the syncro transmission. Don't know for sure, but I think the syncro trans is not up to the power of a vr6, wasn't the syncro a 1800 carb engine?.

swap the syncro drivetrain for the rallye on. that'll handle more power and I think it'll be a straight swap.
