Battery
« on: 19 February 2011, 15:19 »
I went to see if my car will start this morning, but when I put in the battery nothing at all worked, so its not my ms install thats the problem ( yet anyway!)

Do batterys loose charge if left? I bought a charger for it about 3 months ago and put it on but it seemed charged anyway. So I got it this morning but nothing came alive. I put it back on charge ( halfords 1800cc + one) and the green light came on but vanished after a bout 5 minutes and now it just says charging and no green light at all, how long should it take to charge, as maybe the battery is knackered or it was just fully discharged anyway,. It was brand new 8 months ago.

batterys don't like going flat......it's probably shagged....find out why you're draining the battery, take it back if its 8 months old and get a new one.

It's been sat in garage for about 3 months, so wouldnt of thought it would drain? I'll try charging it then take it to Halfords for a check.

not got a multimeter to check the battery's voltage?

No dim panel lights on connecting the battery and turning the ignition on? Surely it would need to be pretty fooked to light nothing

Couldnt find my multimeter, I'll try it tomoz but it's not even charging, put my bosch one on that's broke and thats charging, so it's not the charger.

Could I take the halfords one back with a receipt and say its 8 months old and it's broke already.?

I think even the cheap Halfords batteries have a 3 year guarantee....
