ACC steering assist adjustment
« on: 19 February 2011, 08:42 »
Hi guys,

Does anyone know how to change steering assist level for ACC? I think this is done electronically through VAG-COM. Has anyone had any luck with it OR know a place or people who could do it? I'm in Bedford area. I'll try some places in MK today anyway. VW dealers don’t know a thing about it - if it doesn’t come up as a fault - not our problem:)

In short on my accident repaired car there is no difference between normal and sport mode for steering and normal/comfort steering is too light. I bet there is a way to adjust it.

GTI with Polo steering feedback is like Quattro with 100% to front wheels all the time...
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...

I adjusted it on my caddy van with VCDS

I'll check later if my golf has the same adjustments available

Update. Steering assist cannot be adjusted on mk6. Inde Tech guys spent more than an hour and failed.
Unless someone knows how to change my Polo into a GTI again I will have to reject the repairs and the car. It's not just the steering that's wrong. The whole "repairs" are just shocking (a collection of completely random screws under the bonnet, I'll put a photo tomorrow), Park assist, sensors and camera in "Park assist fault. Workshop!" mode and on top of that the VIN on the chassis is gone. Any solution offered by the repairer (re-stamping using ebay bought tools, welding a plate with said stamped VIN) is likely to make the car unsellable. I think I've seen enough of this good garage...

Bad to hear that mate.
People have different opinions on welding VIN numbers to repaired cars, there are plenty more on the car so I guess it's not too much of a problem, but I wouldn't touch one.
Good luck with whatever happens.

The legal requirement is to have a VIN plate (the one on the B pillar) and a stamped VIN on the chassis in a "visible and easily accessible place" on the offside of the vehicle.  I’m sure there are more than just one VIN on a car but I’m not sure how many meet all these conditions. The visible VIN behind the windscreen is just for insurers. Besides if you know where to look for the VIN you’d look there. If it’s not there I’d walk away too.

If it was only one of these problems I could maybe learn to live with that for the love of my GTI but if it’s un-drivable(at least for a GTI with ACC) and un-sellable plus badly put together….
I have no doubt that I have a big fight with the insurance company ahead but the fact is the car was not repairable in the first place.

Just document everything mate, keep copies of letters, emails etc. Log the time of telephone conversations and with whom you spoke to. With my old Leon, it was sold with all 4 wheels that had flat spots on them, your situation is a little different but eventually they caved in as it was cheaper for them to replace them then get my old Audi back. Any help and advice, am sure we would all gladly help :)
