Single window doors on a Feb 89 car - unusual?
« on: 06 March 2005, 06:00 »
Just got an early 1989 Valver in Jade Green and it's got original single window doors - is this unusual? I thought it was a G reg thing?

single piece as someone said earlier happened during the E plate. 87Es had the quarter light, the 88Es didn't.

they also changed the side mouldings, and a host of minor mechanical changes as well. the badges at the back moved around. the centre VW badge appeared on the rear, the VOLKSWAGEN name tag disappeared as well, and the GOLF became GOLF.

you could always spot a repaired Golf in the early days cause they also stopped producing the original rear panel. so if you were buying an older Golf with the centre badge you knew it had been hit.

If your windscreen wipers go from rest position and move up and left when there in use, then the car is pre 88 and the original doors on the car would have come with quarter light windows.

ive got a set of mint tornado red, doors 1 piece green tinted vag glass and central locking and electric windows motors, im selling,  they have had the black plastic strip removed and smoothed over.
