HELP!! - Sorted
« on: 18 February 2011, 18:08 »
Just installed the VW bluetooth kit! All went well until i turned on the ignition and now iv got an airbag fault

I dont even know where to start!

Iv pulled this out of VCDS:

01-Engine -- Status: OK 0000
02-Auto Trans -- Status: OK 0000
03-ABS Brakes -- Status: OK 0000
04-Steering Angle -- Status: OK 0000
08-Auto HVAC -- Status: OK 0000
09-Cent. Elect. -- Status: Malfunction 0010
15-Airbags -- Status: Malfunction 0010
16-Steering wheel -- Status: OK 0000
17-Instruments -- Status: OK 0000
19-CAN Gateway -- Status: Malfunction 0010
25-Immobilizer -- Status: OK 0000
2E-Media Player 3 -- Status: Sporadic communication error 1000
42-Door Elect, Driver -- Status: OK 0000
44-Steering Assist -- Status: OK 0000
46-Central Conv. -- Status: OK 0000
52-Door Elect, Pass. -- Status: OK 0000
56-Radio -- Status: Malfunction 1010
77-Telephone -- Status: Not registered 0011

Now i havent programmed anything on the VCDS for the bluetooth system yet so that will be where a few of the errors for the radio and telephone will be coming from, but theres a CAN Gateway malfunction and Cent. Elect malfunction! these dont sound good!

I unplugged the airbag warning light whilst i had the climate control cover off, is this what could have caused this and is it fixable?

Iv tried clearing the codes but they have come back straight away

Any help would be much appreciated!

You need to go into each module and find out more details on the codes.

If you disconnect the airbag light and then turn the ignition on it will raise a fault, it should clear down once it is all connected again.

It is connected again!

Im not sure if the VCDS is clearing the faults properly though.

Iv unplugged everything iv done and put it all back to normal, and its still throwing up all the faults so im assuming the VCDS has not cleared them properly

Just want to say big thanks to The Doc for helping me sort it!

Found another fault in the process too! Headlight washer relay grounded/shorted!

No wonder there not working!

I think its time for some warranty work! Il see if i can get my instrument cluster firmware updated so i can enable staging while im in there.

My pleasure

The problem was that he was trying to clear the faults from the general scanning area where as in practice it only seems to work by going into the specific unit that has the fault and re-setting the faults codes from there
