Project: Knackered Mk3
« on: 18 February 2011, 12:05 »
So I may or may not have just crashed my brand new Gti on the way to work  :embarassed:

However, being an optimist, I'm eager to look at the positives, of which there are two;

1) Surprise Flexi-day

2) An excuse for a Vento front end  :cool:

And I made friends with a very nice, although slightly xenophobic policeman who said that he'd take my side over a bunch of golf playing, middle-class tourists anyday. It often pays to speak welsh, even if you are actually english. But to be fair, they weren't going to be winning any Oscars for their whiplash performances  :wink:

So, how much of a mission is it to put a Vento front end on? Is it just the top beam, grill and lights or do I need wings as well?

Cheers,
Tom

I only bought it last week, so it's brand new to me :)
Especially considering my last car was a 20y/o Mk3 Polo with 220k on the clock :)

I need a bonnet as well? Daym :/

Yes bonnet is different, wings and slam panel are the same however.

Since I need my car for work and I can't find anyone breaking a vento locally I've had to get a standard MK3 front end off a CL :(
£80 for the grill, lights, bumper and bumper iron and the top crossmember. the only issue is that it's from a blue golf and mines black  :undecided:

But I'm still planning on getting a vento front end on it as soon as.

Some pics of the damage.

It's my fault really 'cause the ABS warning light had been on, I should have remembered to stay further back, but I was late for work. No excuse really though :/

Bye-bye no-claims  :cry:
