Aren't they for heavily modified engines?

I'd recomend 'The Golf' magazine.  They cover everything 'golf' related as well a few other VW models.  Lot's of good articles and info along with DIY guides.

Yeah "The Golf" is probably your best bet for cars and articles and theres a lot of suppliers in it. they don't have a "max power" attitude to cars like a lot of the other mags do.

vibratek are very good but also expensive.

Standard mounts will do the job well enough, from VW though, if you get them from GSF your engine just might fall out  :D

Rich,

If you don't believe me about GSF's great quality goods , i'll get modulator to send you a pic of his top quality suspension mounts that he only put on last year  ;)

GSF were good years ago, they seemed to go downhill since they introduced French parts  >:( For the last year or so everything that myself or modulator have bought from them has been absolute sh!t.

Thanks for the advice. I posted yesterday to the GSF forum querying the parts required for my mk II. Guess I'll just go down to the local VW dealer now.

Is there anything special I need to do to replace them? Can I just take the load of the engine with a trolly jack and replace them one at a time?

Thats basically it, support the engine ,unbolt and replace the mounts. If you use a trolley jack under the sump make sure you spread the weight with some wood or a brick  ;)
