as much as i like this site, and i find everybody helpful, ive noticed that in this forum, when people ask what products they should buy, expensive products pop up, now i dont know about most, but i for one am interested in products that, dont cost alot, but do the job very well, and i get enough quantity of product in the bottle, off the shelf of halfords etc, what im asking for is everyones opinion
thanks
heres mine...
Shampoo - Meguiars NXT Gen, Zymol, even CarPlan shampoo is ok,
Polish - Autoglym Super Resin, im not an AG fan, but theres no denying, more for those that know about micro abrasives imo
Wax - not sure?
Tyres - Simoniz Back To Black, does exactly what it says, and not overly expensive
Alloys - Comma Alloy Cleaner, havnt seen this around in ages, but i found it very good, but very strong, just dont inhale, lol
Metals - Peek Chrome Polish, only about £4
Glass - Autoglym Fast Glass, in all fairness, i used a mates, it was ok, decosol was good, but cant dfind it anywhere
obviously theres other products, like paint cleaners, micro abrasive cutting agents, quick detailers, etc, this is just a quick breakdown, whats your choices?
yes there are cheaper alternatives but you get what you pay for im afraid and the more expensive products can be of benifit over a cheaper product in every area of detailing.
shampoo: i have a few as each one suits a different situation.
britemax cleanmax awesome shampoo, dodojuice sourpower and born to be mild, zaino z7,all not very expensive at all and Active xl for extreme hardcore jobs.
polishes: again many different types for different situations, cheap all in ones are easy to use and are ideal for people who just want to go over it quickly but get a good glossy finish,
my polishes range from britemax range, autosmart, scholl, farrecla, will soon be using some wolf polishes.
wax: take your pick theres plenty to choose from, my collection is,dodojuice PH,OC,BA,RBJE,HC,PH PRO,BV PRO,SN,LF,DW,DWDW,Austinacious, Collinite 845,fk100p,tropicare liquid waxes, heratige wax, vics concourse, britemax max shine.
sealants: tropicare sealant, jetseal 109,duragloss 111 with bonding agent, britemax extreme elemants, again all suit different situations.
tyres: Autosmart highstyle and megs endurance tyre gel.
Alloys: wouldnt touch comma stuff with a barge poll from your description of dont inhale it sounds like a cheap acid based product which will over time wreck your alloys, again cheap and nasty, i use either Active xl diluted or g101 diluted/neat depending on the situation, bilberry wheel cleaner is ok but is only effective if the wheels arent that dirty imo.
metal polish: britmax metal twins all the way for me, very effective product and worth its weight in gold tbh, makes very light work of cleaning and sealing metal, also very economical.
Glass:i use APC on glass then a window cream like Autosmart silverscreen or glass glow.
to me all the above that i have bar a few are not very expensive products, i draw the line with waxes though and dont see the point of spending stupid amounts on them.
you do get what you pay for with detailing products and the cheapy cheapy stuff really isnt worth going near if you want good safe results.
