New oil pump jammed
« on: 12 February 2011, 14:45 »
Hey

My oil pump failed recently and so I replaced it with this....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250746458911&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1156

My car is a 2l (AWG bottom end) with a 2E dizzy and PB head

On start up the oil pump jammed and sheared the pin on the dizzy leaving the bottom cog to fall off!

Out of the car the oil pump spins fine. I have had the locating sleeve which it sits in inside the engine out ( it was already loose) sanded that down, polished and re-installed but still no luck. Again though out of the car the oil pump spins freely within it.

It would seem as though I am missing a spacer but I have even put washers between the oil pump and engine face and it still jams even with the bolts only done up finger tight.

I have even tried jacking the car so it is perfectly level to see if tht would help me locate it better but it still jams.

I'm out of idea other than leave the bolts loose...which clearly is a retarded idea!!

Ellie
