non gti question for you
« on: 11 February 2011, 13:58 »
bonjour chaps.

i have just bought a 1995 1.9 diesel (non turbo) and the front calipers are goosed (bleed nipples are snapped off and we cant get them out)

struggling to find any replacements for them. i believe they are 239mm solid discs.

any ideas of other models i can liberate calipers from?

thanks in advance, dave

If you're after new calipers why not upgrade the brakes? :)

Surely a breakers yard near you will have some kind of mk3 for you to pillage the calipers from?

Yes, if you have the correct carriers, pads and discs associated to the caliper. But bear in mind that GTI's and VR6's have 5 stud discs so you'd have to change the hubs as well so obviously not worth it on a cheap and temperary vehicle.
