cleaning windscreen

I've heard mixed things about RainX as i was going to try it, apparently it's not the easiest to apply but does what it says on the tin by reducing the need for wipers BUT when you do use your wipers it smears quite badly. I haven't tried it so i can't confirm anything though, let us know how you get on mate.

I use autoglym glass polish, then rainx.

My windscreen has seen better days though, it's very scratched and has a feck load of tar on it, when the sun is low visibility is so low!

Just cheap glass polish, seems to do the job fine.

AG, and glass polish, cant remember the name.

I also won some Megs glass cleaner at the rtech raffle but its not great. Carlack maybe twice a year

You'd be proud of the restraint I employed in not replying to the OP with some handy tips.

 

This isn't 'that' thread fella.. That was for mk6's only as apparently they're different. No, this is a thread for those who spend gadzillions on cleaning products who can provide sensible advise only...

Me.. I use carlack glass sealant for sealing and Autosmart glass cleaner for a quick once over.. Doesn't smear.

Suggest never cleaning glass in direct sunlight... You'll be there forever!

stupid question, but how do mk6 windscreens differ?

for some reason i have what looks like small black grit on the inside of my windscreen that wont come off, like somebody has welded in the car and not covered the screen 

would rain x not smear if it was applied lightly?

Washed the car this morning and gave the front and back a clean with whiter vinegar. Ill report back on how successful it was.

I was the inside normally with Malt Vinegar and screwed up news paper lol!! Stops them steaming up so much lol!!!

But yeh the smell!!!!!

f**k doing that on the inside ! It would smell something rotten. It was bad enough outside. AC will stop them steaming up.
