440BHP MK6 take your fancy? Golf24
« on: 10 February 2011, 13:19 »
Shamlessly stolen from Greenouses thread on 'the other site'
http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/263578/volkswagen_golf24_the_440bhp_nurburgring_racer.html

You'd think they'd fit Xenons for night driving? Typical VW, charge extra for everthing!

Main thing of note is the 35 Jahre plastered up the sides  :smug:
Some hints towards an ED35 at Worthersee this year maybe?

I'll wager my hat that the 'real' Edition 35 doesn't have that little gem under the bonnet (or the 4WD)

I might be tempted to buy an ed35

I doubt they'd ever make a gti with 4wd or anything other than a 4 pot as it's not true to the original.

Who knows they may make an R+ golf with the 5cyl unit?

Yeah, well done for spotting the article originally Nath.

I think an R+ or RS maybe a possible as a swansong for some markets, using the 5 pot.

However I agree 100% with everyone that says the ED35 will have a 4 cylinder motor.

Guess the spec of the ED35 time (maybe edit the thread and seperate if this bit takes off).

I reckon:
Engine wise I'll go for the obvious choice of the Leon Cupra (not R) engine, 235 or 240PS as quoted output.
2wd.
That will keep it cheaper and lighter than an R

Styling wise I reckon fully blacked out headlamp bezels similar to Scirocco lights (not tinted, just all black plastic inside losing the chrome). Xenon upgrade in all black R style.
Possibly a unique front bumper, or failing that the fog lights lightly smoked (similar to 25th Edition) and a slightly different lip spoiler.
R style side skirts, possibly in gloss black.
Body coloured wing mirrors though.
At the back I'm a bit hesitant, maybe a similar wheelbarrow handle exhaust with differently shaped tail pipe trims instead of round ones. And maybe the rear diffuser in gloss black. Dark R tail lights.

Inside I reckon maybe a version of the Rs seats but with red bolsters on black seats (unlike the white on black of the R) and a GTI 35 logo.
White stitching on the steering wheel? Unique knob probable.

And the wheels? Dunno, VW should have learnt their lesson with polished face wheels, but I reckon the wheels will have a fancy finish and the option of 19s.

VW would never put an RS badge on the back of any production VW  Trying to take owners from the Audi RS vehicles.

Although the R+ sounds good or something like a R350R or R5+ e.g Golf R five pot
