BBS RX2's are they worth it? What would you do?
« on: 09 February 2011, 17:53 »
Okay peeps, I want to get some BBS RX2's for my mk3 golf but I don't know if its going to be worth while because they cost a bomb in good condition, so the alternative is to buy a set that needs a refurb, I found a set that need a refurb for £80.00 here with 2 Toyo Proxes on them with a good 5/6mm of tread left:

So they are going to cost £80.00 for the wheels alone, about £70.00 for 2 more toyo proxes, then a good refurb will probs cost about £200, then new centres about £30.00, then i'm going to needsome hub centric spacers which will cost about £100.00 unless I can find a decent set second-hand for cheaper and then finally (Bare in mind i'm only 17 - so don't laugh :embarassed: ) I'm considering getting some rim gator protector things (about £50.00) because I don't really want to curb a newly refurbed set of rims that emptied my piggy bank for :undecided:. So thats a grand total of around £530+ tyre fitting and balencing...
Also bare in mind that the car only cost £500.00, here it is:

...and what it would look like if it was rolling on some nice rx2's

Has anyone got any suggestions, advice, alternatives etc... would be greatly appreciated...

cheers, Les.

thanks for the responses, does anyone know where i can find a set of 4 hub centric 10mm spacers? and how hard would it be to do a decent refurb by myself? any tips?

 Cheers guys.

To refurb them they need splitting really and that can lead to many problems

bare in mind its your first car and is cheap so doesnt require a mint set of average rims. if i were you just get some sand paper, sand them down, prime them, spray them, fit them. buy coilovers job done

I know, your right, i'm having second thoughts on whether to bother with the rx2's its gonna be alot of hasstle and money and more than likely counter productive :undecided:
im not bad with a spray can tbh but, idk if i can trust myself spraying a set of rx2's there so complicated and plus if you spray in the the joining nut thingys it would make them real tough to get off... i've found there on ebay dunno if they suit my car though, i think there white:
