Brake Disc Size

What size were the MK4 Gti's front and rear discs?

Mines a 2000 W reg, ARZ engine code if thats any help.

I think the rear sizes are the same on all as far as i'm aware, but the front are different? 280mm or 288mm?

Golf 1.8T Golf 130/150 TDI :

The Front brakes are 288mm x 25mm Vented Discs,  54mm ATE single piston calipers
The Rear brakes are 232mm x 9mm Solid Discs



Golf Anniversary, VW Golf V5 170, VW Golf V6 4 Motion

The Front brakes are 312mm x 25mm Vented Discs, 54mm ATE single piston calipers

The Rear brakes are 256mm x 22mm Vented Discs, 38mm Lucas single Piston calipers


2.0 8v,1.8 20v N/A , TDI 115 , TDI 110 , TDI 100 , TDI 90 :

The Front brakes are 280mm x 22mm Vented Discs, Single piston calipers, caliper carrier integrated into hub

The Rear brakes are 232mm x 9mm Solid discs

288mm all GTI's mk4 platform are 288mm only exceptions are Anniversary and 4MOTION which are 312mm

on mk3 platform early gtis had 280 and later ones had 288 aswell as VR6 which had 288

Most say no - i have the full 256 rears and 312mm front though  :smiley:

make a noticeable difference? have you upgraded your brakelines aswell??

sorry for all the  questions... think i might just upgrade my front ones for the time being..
