Should I modify The engine???
« on: 02 March 2005, 15:46 »

Having bought my Golf last weekend I am now debating what (if any) engine mod's to make

If anyone can suggest simple modifications and prices/where to buy etc that would be appreciated.

I am looking into an air filter and people have also said to drill the air box ( mainly for the sound - does this add a couple of BHP)

Cheers

start with a 4 brand manifold and a free flowing exhaust. then drill out the bottom of the airbox and replace the panel filter with a better one. cheap mods there.

after that you're looking at head work or a capacity increase to gain more power.

you can also get the Warm Up Regulator adjusted, this will make the car more responsive and pull harder but you need to find somebody local who knows what they are doing

also, might be worth getting the car on a rolling road and see how its performing for you go starting making changes that way you have a baseline to start from

Vince @ http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/ can do it for you if your anywhere near him. he does it while doing it on the rolling road
