MK3 8V Golf gti please help quickly :D

I have had the head gasket go on my new golf every1 keeps telling me the 8v is S**t but its cheap on insurance and i can still make it look good lol, i hope. umm anyway i am going to have the head sent of for skimming tommorrow and i cant see anything about anyone else having their mk3 head done. I need to know how much shall i get skimmed off to get a good compression ratio or at least the most power out of her. (btw she is completely standard atm) if anyone knows then i would be very greatful for some help  :huh:  Also i want to know has anyone ever changed an electric sunroof before? im not just talking about the motor im on about the whole thing? i have heard they can be a b!tch :S cheers guys.

Head should only be skimmed if needed, if so a light skim is all you need.

Replacing the sunroof is not too hard, drop the headlining and you will see the 4 / 6 bolts that hold it in.

but is getting the head lining down easy? and back up? also once you undo the four bolts does it just slot out and new one in? cheers

the place where your sending the head will put a straight edge on it and see if it needs skimming if it does they will take of whatever needs taking of to get it straight the most you can take of is between 15-20 thou depending on what car

Not that hard, just work your way through it, then yes the sunroff assembly is just bolted in.

ok cheers buddy. how long should it take roughly? and has any one got any pictures of the assembly without the head lining?
