Vibration through nearside wheel on turning right
« on: 07 February 2011, 12:38 »
I am new to the forum and I am after a little bit of help diagnosing a problem. I have a 1990 Golf GTi 16v that I lowered. I replaced all suspension bushes, springs (GSF lowering springs - 40mm) and new Boge shocks. I have also fitted new 195/50/15 Toyo proxe T1R tyres and had the geometry set at -0.82 negative camber (still witin VW recommended tolerance) and rear axle is perfect alignment.

The problem is when I go around a right hand corner i get a vibration (seems to be from the nearside wheel) through the floor and steering wheel yet when I go around a left hand bend I dont get it. Also it seems to get worse as more weight is in the car, 1 person,= vibration, 2 people = worse, 3 people = terrible and so on.

I have checked all arches for rubbing and no issues there, any suggestions ?

Front nearside wheel bearing probably. Jack each wheel off the ground 1 by 1, wobbling it top and bottom, left and right. Any play indicates bearing needing tightening/ replacing. Start on the front nearside 1st
