Well I removed the quarter window, got the grinder out and got rid of the rust (which there was far more than anticipated!), doused in Kururst, filled, sanded, filled again, sanded again, primed, painted, lacquered, and put the window back in just before it got dark. 11 hours of work on it, and it looks proper sh!te!  Looked flat until I put the base coat on, but its not. Also there was alot of overspray from the primer, and didnt have enough basecoat to cover it all. A bit fed up, but hey ho, I now know my limits with regard to spraying.  :embarassed:

Hopefully it will look a bit better when its flatted and polished back, but not holding my breath.

On the plus side, a little fiddling with the gear linkage and now selecting gears much better, and no clunking when cold into second gear.

Yeah I suppose. Loosing the love for it a bit lately, and this has just reinforced it a bit...

Yeah I know. Just got some 2000 grit wet n dry, and flatted it back with that and some megs ultimate compound and a shed load of elbow grease, and its looking a bit better. Still noticable from a short distance but at least your eyes are'nt drawn to it any more. just looks like a very poor blend now. That'll do until spring anyway when I'll probably break it as I doubt I'll get anything like a reasonable amount for it. Just gotta keep telling myself that it was project for me to gain a few skills with. I've done quite a bit more than I anticipated over the course of my ownership tbh, and I'll probably be staying with VAG (really want a Corrado). If not then it'll be getting another engine transplant next summer time, and maybe a nice respray and some rims.  :undecided:

I've always had a soft spot for Corrados as well  what engine you thinking, 16v, G60, VR6?

16v just wont cut it, G60 will cost too much in the long run, so the VR wins hands down for performance and sound.

Only problem now is the missus has gone and got herself up the duff again , so I have to convince her that a 4 seater would be economical and big enough.
