Well cleaned up the engine and gearbox, and sprayed it all up with vht. Also started on the bay but had to cut it short cos it has been raining for the last couple of days.
Also just had my op.

Cue sypathy! lol.

Basically I had an infection in my ear that healed, but the scar tissue grew into my eardum causing it to retract and not clean itself, therefore becoming infected again and not healing. Infection started eating away at the bone, and if left could be fatal as it eats its way into the brain cavity!
All sorted now and home, but I have a larger ear canal therefore suseptible to infection again if it gets wet!
Thats the reason I may have to leave the Navy, as I may not be able do Sea servival couses (firefighting/plugging leaks whilst test rigs are filling with water, and jumping into a lake to climb into a liferaft). Its a prerequisite for going to sea, but will see what happens in the coming months. A bit groggy and sore now, but now have 2 weeks off work! Give it a couple of days and I reckon I can start back on the car!

Oh well enough of feeling sorry for myself, actually managed to do a bit more painting of the bay the day after!
Started putting things back on the engine now, but gonna change cambelt and clutch over the w.end, and will get a few phots then.

Right as promised, here are a few pics of progress so far. Almost ready to go back in, but trying to take it slowly atm as my ear keeps bleeding. Just put a few bits back on and painted a few more bits and pieces, and fitted a new clutch and cable, although still waiting to send off the flywheel but couldnt resist putting new one on with another flywheel on for the time being.
Anyway, lump...............

Old lump feeling pretty damn sorry for itself!

And finally the bay which is almost finished

Gave the wheel bolts another go on o/s rear as they were stuck, and its the last one for refirb, and result! Got em off so that can also be done now. Need to get some paint from the stealer for the n/s quarter window where the rust is, and sort that as well.
Finish painting the bay tomorrow, and sort all cabling out and put back how it should be, may do the fuel filter as that needs doing as well, and a mates coming over to give me a hand with the timing belt. :undecided: Hopefully we dont feck it up! Still got the sump to go on as well, but gonna do that once its back. See how it goes anyway, more updates to follow over the next week or so.
