Project snails pace is still going! Funds have been a bit tight up to now so been taking it pretty slowly, that coupled with me not wanting to get in over my head too much so trying to be meticulous with labelling everything up, and taking pictures each step of the way. Here are a few photos of progress anyway.

Decided whilst the engine is out, I may as well paint the bay up and give it a general tidy etc.
Saw a thread of a dragon green with cream bits, and I really liked it, so I copied it!  First off the wheels..............

Really pleased with how they have come out. Used ford Ivory as there was a spillage at halfords and all the tins were covered, so they were half price!  First one was a bit shiz cos I rushed the lacquer and put too much on so it went all dimply.  Quickly got into the swing of things though and I'm really pleased with the results. Got one left to do but cant get it off. Sheered the tyre iron, and one of my 17mm sockets trying so will wait til its running and get a garage to crack it off. Serves me right I suppose for buying cheap Draper Tools! :smiley:

Bay is going a similar colour too. Finally got the engine out yesterday, its mint when your old dear hires you an engine crane on her staff account at Brandon. Friday til Tuesday - £1.70 + VAT  :smug:

Gearbox is off and Gunked up so nice and clean ready for painting. Gave the bay a quick going over too but will do it properly before painting. Here is the new (er) engine ready for cleaning up before painting too.

New clutch, Clutch cable, Cambelt Kit, Rocker and Sump Gasket to be fitted along with the painting when ready. Sump and Alternator painted Satin Black, as has the subframe.

No room left in the shed...................... or the car!

Just waiting on the VHT to be delivered and the spline socket and bit set coming after buying off fleabay, so I can get the clutch off etc, and send the flywheel off for lightening and balancing.
Off to Kidderminster Tuesday eve for the ChipsAway open day Wednesday, and stopping in Bristol on way back for cousins wedding at the w.end. Have my operation on my ear a week Monday so 2 or 3 weeks off work after, so hopefully get most things done then.

Cheers for comments guys. Just thought I wanna make it a bit cleaner is all. I love the black with the tinted repeaters and grill etc but everyone does that. The light colour looks really good with the dragon green too so thought this is the route I wanna take. Gonna take off the tint off from my repeaters and fogs as well. Saves me getting highline pillar covers too when I do the interior, Just leave what I have on and recover the headlining with a cream coloured suede. Fresh!  May go back to standard grille, or change the colour on my badgeless one, but dont know what colour to go on that. Think the cream on there will be too much and look a bit crap! Any suggestions??

I like the headlining idea mate! Thats different!

Regarding the grille, I dont personally like badgeless ones and I think that cream would deffo look too much. Maybe refit the standard one with a cream badge?! I dunno, that might look crap, just an idea though. Have a play around and see what works.

Yeah that was my first thought. Deffinately wont do the whole thing cream. I'll get myself a standard grille and have a mess around with different colours. Either that or just do a bit of photoshopping first.

Cheers bud! Yeah really happy with the wheels. Inside is not as good but I'm really happy with the face and rims. Took a while but well worth it. Just need to try and get the last one off now!  Need to start concentrating on the engine and bay though tbh! Pointless doing it all if its not even gonna make it to the road!  Tried taking the old clutch off today too. Got the flywheel and clutch off but those fecking pressure plate bolts arent going anywhere! My hands are in bits now too! Dont know what to do as the head on the bolts are really shallow, so I cant get enough purchase on it when using all my weight. Just slipping off and I'm scared of rounding them off.
