Personally if your after more BHP etc why not move the 8v on and buy a 16v or a vr6 which is a better base to get more bhp than a 8v.It would be the way I would go if I was intrested in more BHP and performance etc which im not why I drive an 8v

Yeah I know that's why I said I have been looking at valvers, and even entertained looking at mk4 AUQs. Just gotta wait a few months and talk the missus round to letting me go off spending again! (but it's me that wears the trousers...   Honest!)

Yeah sounds like it  Mk4s have really come down abit more now in value and must admit they look really good value for money plus you can get decent BHP without spending silly amounts of money. My dads old 20vt was a really good car very reliable only major work done in 10 years was the clutch other than that it was pretty bullet proof.

Well nothing much done lately, and Im off to Hawaii for my honeymoon on tuesday.. Woop Woop!!! So thought I would give myself a little bump.  Apart from a couple of good cleans as the weather has been awsome, I have got a fair few jobs to do when I get back. I seriously better ask the bank manager to extend my overdraft I think! My abs light has been on for about 6 weeks now so I better get myself a code reader - (Will the cheap ones on ebay (U281) type point me in the right direction??). Hopefully its just a sensor so I wanna get that sorted sooner rather than later. The coolant leak I have is from the n/s of the rad, so a new one is required as there is literally no coolant left now from topping up with water every 4 or 5 days. Car has aircon as well so its even more of a b!tch! And today, I think the splines on the starter motor have packed up! Started fine at home, drove 2 minutes to the petrol station, and when I tried to start it, it cut out twice, and seemed to be trying to find higher revs but caught eventually with the aid of a size 10 to the floor! Then dropped some stuff off at the wedding venue, came out and on turning over all I had was the motor whining and sounding like it was spinning freely. . Luckily it was on a hill so I bumped it. I have had to park at the top of the road now cos I gotta take it round a mates house, to put in his drive whilst I'm away as the tax also runs out this month. I have just spent almost a years wages on one friggin day  so cant afford that until I get back either!

Bit of an update, and bump too.  Been on honeymoon for the last couple of weeks, and just before I left the starter motor died. Mate ordered it and was gonna fit it whilst I was away, but it didnt turn up! So he ordered a new one and it arrived the day I got back. After 26 hours of travelling door to door, I really didnt want to do it then. lol. Anyway, turned up to start attacking the car yesterday, but the battery was dead. Fitted a new one a week or so before I left, so its a bit strange.  managed to bump it in the end after a bit of juice from his starlet GT - jap crap  and the coolant warning light came on. Noticed a small stain under the car when I got there, but knew the rad was leaking a little so didnt think much of it as I normally just top it up a little every couple of weeks. So cracked on with fitting the starter motor at his house as it was parked in the works car park and his house is just round the corner. Was a very straightforward job in the end. So out with the old -
And in with the new.
She fired up straight away after 5 mins with his battery hooked up to mine again, and off home I went.  Almost home, and the cabin started to smell of smoke a little. Temp read 90 deg which seemed odd, but obviously my coolant warning light was still on. Got half way up a long hill, and it cut out.  Battery was dead, so I was fooked! Had to wait until the traffic eased (happened at 5.30 on a friday!) and rolled back down and onto the grass verge. Missus had to come and jump me in the end again. Started to sound like a diesel on the short ride back to my house - ohh nooooo its fooked I thought! So popped the bonnet, and the smoke poured out! Turned out there was absolutely no coolant in it! Wierd how the temp was reading 90 though! Anyway topped it all up after leaving it a couple of hours to cool down, and it was getting dark by then. Missus went on her way out to work this morning, and called me out. What did I find - Topped up again and went round the block til up to temp - well it ended up way past that in the end, so had to pull over and leave it to cool again. Started it up and the coolant warning light came on again. Limped home, got out to have a look and the water was absolutely pissing out! Fans are not coming on either so I'm a bit pissed off now! Will get a new rad when the missus gets home from work tomorrow, then will have to investigate why the fans are not working. Just what you need when you get back from 2 weeks in Hawaii!!!!!

Changed the rad yesterday, bit of a ballache trying to get it behind the aircon rad, but a bit of shimmying and too many bent fins later it was in. Didnt take any photos whilst doing it, but here is the old one. Deffinately seen better days!

Next up is the rust on the n/s quarter under the window. Just need to persuade the missus to let me have some money for it as she has her own plans for the garden, the conservatory, and all 3 bedrooms.  Dunno where she is getting her money from but I want some!

Yeah tell me about it! About 130 quid that could have been spent on something that would have made me happier with the car!  Still, if it keeps her going a little longer I'm game! Honeymoon was good thanks mate, bit pricey out there but hey ho. Arch at I, not stopped talking about money! Must be skint!!
