Right then, found the leak(s), and found a couple of issues I hadn't expected too! Stripped the n/s rear carpets and door card, and couldnt see anywhere that water would have entered as further up from the seal was all dry. So I took the front carpets out, and hadn't realised that the soundproofing under there was sodden as well.  Took everything out to dry it all, and mopped everything, and got the missus to drench the car whilst I was sat in it. First one came from the door seal, where they sort of join in the middle. Looks like it has had some sort of metal link in it before, but all it is now is a crumbly rusty mess. The second is coming from the sunroof drain I think. Just above the door loom rubbers, there is a drain hole that should have a rubber spikey type grommet. Well that is no longer there. I'm assuming it has been removed when the sunroof was sealed by previous owner (cock!). So off to get a new one of those soon, and gonna seal everything up with some bathroom sealant!! I did spot a couple of nasty things with the carpet up though............

Looks like some chopper has jacked it just anywhere, and this is the result.
Also..........................

No Idea where this has come from but doesn't look too good.
Gonna get myself down to halfords tomorrow for some hammerite to sort of seal that, and need to get some plastic primer for the shark fin ready to colour code. (Thanks for suggestion). Did my lower bumper vents too but not sure of them now. What do u think???

I also did the pikey short shifter! Just re-threaded the shaft about 2" further down, then cut off about an inch and a half. Not bad, but feels a little strange, and feels like its not quite gone in gear properly. Just need to get used to it I suppose!
Tomorrow will be shark fin, and internal leds. weather permitting again!!

Nothing really to update. All the soundproofing is still out of the N/S of the car as its been pissing down all week, and I am having to rotate a towel around daily to soak up water ingress. My head is spinning though, after reading other dub ride threads, it has reignited my thirst for a supercharger! I was thinking of supercharging it originally, then thought about a conversion, but reading the build threads and stickies, the supercharger seems like a much cheeper option (short term). The only thing is, with an 8v, I am unlikely to see the sunny side of 200 brakes. So I have been looking at valvers as well to supercharge! Or shall I just go Mk4 AUQ...... I just dont know! Mine is relatively high milage for a new fit like that anyway so not sure if it would be worth it, and the missus keeps dripping at me about money but I just cant help myself. AAArrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!! too many thoughts, my brain is going to explode soon!!!!

Im like this all the time  but 2 things i cant afford to have high fuel costs, not to mention the all the other upgrades that would be needed to cope with the extra poneys.

in the end i just say to myself if its not broke dont fix it, so il re-think my position if or when it goes BANG!

for now id just worry about your leaking problem!!

Oh I did the shark fin too. Gotta do it again though as the Halfrauds colour match didnt! Way too dark, so gonna go to VW to get some. Lucky I tried it there before I did it on any bodywork really! I know where the leak is coming from. Im just waiting for one of the sellers on here to get back to me with his details, so I can send him the money for the drain grommets in the door stop.

its very difficult to match the paint, but hallfords is the worse place to go if your trying to match the colour, not got a paint shop near you? also use white primer instead of grey

Personally if your after more BHP etc why not move the 8v on and buy a 16v or a vr6 which is a better base to get more bhp than a 8v.It would be the way I would go if I was intrested in more BHP and performance etc which im not why I drive an 8v
