Jacking Points / Axle Stand Positions
« on: 06 February 2011, 18:39 »
I'm going to be taking all 4 wheels off for a good clean of the arches post-winter and also giving the wheels a clean and protection with gtechniq C5.

Rather than just using the standard 'emergency jack' I'd want to put the car onto an axle stand

Does anybody have any photos or diagrams of where to place the stands please?

Sorry if there has already been a post re this - I searched but came up with nothing

thanks

Thanks Jimble

That'll teach me search for axle stands rather than trolley jack point!

Off to the stealers this week

Thanks again

Those audi style lifting pads suggested in the other link are not ideal for lifting with a trolly jack, i have read reports of the metal bending were they are located due to the angle the jack lifts at. As the weight is not distributed in all 4 corners the same as it is on a wheels free ramp. Much better to lift on the re-enforced jacking point location which is were the manual tells you to jack with a trolly jack.
