Remap on a Golf mk4 1.8T GTI
« on: 06 February 2011, 13:44 »
Hey all, first post so just a quick hello .

Anyway, im looking at getting a Mk4 Golf very soon completly standard so i can do it up my own way. I will want to get it remapped asap but i was just woundering what sort of output ill get from a stage 1 remap. i did do a quick search but didnt find alot. I read somewhere that a revo remap will produce an extra 40ish bhp resulting in about 190bhp. Is this true?
Also are there any steps i should take before getting a remap or something that should be done after.

Any help appriciated.
Gav

welcome mate

if your looking at a mk4 1.8t.. pre 2001 models wer fitted with an AGU engine code which has a ko3 turbo and will give you about 190bhp on a stage 1 remap ... mk4's after 2001 have a ko3S turbo and have an AUM engine code which can give you about 210 bhp from stage 1 remap.

only plus side of the pre 2001 mk4's (AGU) is they have stronger internals and the coil packs are less likely to go as they are bolted down where as AUM doesnt and thats why there coil packs fail easily etc etc... but the AUM's have the better turbo

hence why many people just get an AGU and bolt on a ko3s turbo on there

have a snoop around the mk4 section mate loads info on there.. check the maintenance section in there too.. enjoy

Hello,

The first thing you should sped your money on is a full health check and getting the car running spot on even before thinking of remapping.  The 1.8T all have minor issues with leaking pipes, false reading MAFs, weak actuators, faulty DVs, clogged fuel pumps, ect...

If you want we can carry out a full inspection with data logging and rolling road testing to mage sure you car is up to scratch once you brought it.

Nick

Is it a straight swap between the KO3 and KO3s?

Cheers for that, I may be in the market for a Mk4 soon. Looks like an AGU with ko3s then a trip to r-tech could be on the cards when the time comes

Nick, how much is a stage 1 on a 1.8t AUM? Is a 'health check' included?

Generic map by mobile crew who can come to your home or works address, or a spec1 custom setup on our rolling road if you come to our works shop.

With the age of your car and how many issues it could have your best bet is get the car to us and get it fully testing on the dyno prior to mapping.
